You’ve finished your work in progress. Awesome!!! Congratulations. Now what?

Well let’s get started. You want some feedback. Do you need a beta reader?

Firstly…what’s a beta reader. And what’s the difference between an alpha reader and a beta reader. Alpha readers are the first ones you share your work with.

While they tell you about the obvious things like typos etc, they don’t really focus on sentence structure or commas—they usually look at the big picture. What’s working and what they like? What sticks out like a sore thumb? Alphas basically give you brief feedback.

What you’re really looking during that last stretch is a beta reader and a proof-reader.

If you’re looking for someone for the following

  • Developmental edits
  • Analysis on story and plot development
  • Conflict- is the conflict enough (internal/external)
  • Characters- are they believable
  • Dialogue
  • Proofreading for errors
  • Story development
  • Story-flow/consistency
